Weary Traveler

"You warred alone...... against that demon,
which lived within - you ignored the cost..."

Turn the page... another chapter......
begins anew - but something's changed,
by your own hand - the scene has altered,
emptier... this book became.
A ray of light... of truth
and wisdom,
you never knew how you were loved,
you stood your ground when others faltered,
never afraid... to be ungloved.
You warred alone...... against that demon,
which lived within - you ignored the cost...
to your own life - shielding your loved-ones,
it thinks it's won... but it has lost.
So rest your mind - weary traveler,
you fought so hard...
and fought so well.
Your eyes are closed - but not your spirit,
you've just gone home...
and shed this shell.

Misunderstood... and oft-forsaken......
so many thought... they saw you true,
blind to the soul - and to the genius,
integrity... the core of you.
A breathing fire... of loyalty
and courage,
were never shy to name wrong from right,
you searched for truth beneath the surface,
despite the dark... you sought the light.
There is a hole...... from your departure,
that I can't fill - can not outlive,
I know your pride - kept you in silence,
I understand... and I forgive.
Now rest your heart - weary traveler,
you gave your all...
you gave your best.
Your body's gone - but not your spirit,
may peace be yours...
you will be missed.
